Animal Support
At Yáy Atelier, fashion is more than just style, it’s about making a difference.
With every bandana sold, you help feed an animal at Konrad-Adenauer Animal Shelter in Cologne-Zollstock. 1% of each purchase goes directly toward buying high-quality food for rescued and abandoned animals. Instead of simply donating money, Yáy Atelier personally purchases and delivers the food. This ensures that every contribution directly benefits the animals, giving them the nourishment they need.
This initiative is also dedicated in loving memory of Yuki, a rescued cat who defied the odds. Yuki was adopted by Esra’s family when he was still young and later came to Esra in his last years. He had no teeth, no voice, and lived with FIV and Alzheimer’s, yet he was full of love and strength until the very end. He passed away in Esra’s arms, but his spirit lives on through this mission.
By choosing Yáy Atelier, you’re not just embracing fashion, you’re giving back to those who need it most. Every bandana feeds, nurtures, and honors the memory of animals like Yuki.
About Konrad-Adenauer Animal Shelter
At the Konrad-Adenauer Animal Shelter in Cologne-Zollstock, shelter manager Petra Gerigk and her team care for animals with great dedication and heart, animals who have been abandoned or surrendered by their owners, or taken in by the city of Cologne.
Every day, the team looks after around 300 animals, dogs, cats, small mammals, birds, and farm animals. They also take in injured wild animals, nurturing them back to health and releasing them into the wild. Pigeons, hedgehogs, various songbirds, and even ravens have been lovingly prepared to return to nature. The veterinarians Dr. Sabine Holland and Dr. Ralf Unna provide devoted medical care in the on-site veterinary clinic.
Petra Gerigk's team also works hard to find new loving homes for the animals. They care for boarding guests as well, animals staying temporarily while their humans are on vacation or in the hospital. The shelter is operated by the Cologne Animal Welfare Association, founded in 1868, which is also a member of the German Animal Welfare Federation. The association proudly looks back on over 150 years of commitment to animal welfare.
